STONE LINE – stone veneer, decorative stone.
Thin, flexible, 100% waterproof, light and above all easy to install. This is how a sensational product such as stone veneer can be described in short.
How is a stone veneer made?
The raw material from which stone veneer is made is usually slate. To understand the essence of the product, here are some geological fundamentals.
Crystalline shales, which are the basic raw material, are metamorphic rocks characterized by excellent shale, i.e. they are naturally divided into flat 1-10 mm thick columns. Stone Line uses structural lamination of the shale, thanks to which, in the process of separating their individual layers, we obtain thin layers of rock (veneer) from 0.1 to 2 mm thick. After bonding to glass fibre with polyester resins (approx. 1 mm) they retain their flexibility and compact structure. The total thickness of the stone veneer leaf consequently ranges from 1 to 3 mm. The irregular surface of the slate and the colour variation of their mineral layers make each stone veneer leaf unique.
Stone veneer in the terrarium
the aesthetics of natural rock perfectly matching the many biotopes
possibility of composing the decoration with ER’NaturaStone rocks and HABISTAT substrates
Thin background layer (up to 3mm!) maximizing the space in the so-called tank floor
waterproof surface – can be used to protect the chipboard in damp tanks
easy to process (the background can even be cut with scissors – watch out for blunt blade!)
easy installation with aquarium silicones or polymer adhesives
Stone veneer can also be used as a temporary bedding for rearing young animals or animals during treatment, replacing towels or other temporary solutions
Stone veneer as an interior product can also be used to cover the tank from the outside or to make room arrangements composing a terrarium with the closest surroundings in the room, office, etc.
Sheets and installation instructions
Basic sheet 1222 x 610 mm.
JUMBO sheets 2440×1220 mm and 3050×1220 mm (on request).
Total thickness of stone veneer is between 1 and 3 mm.
Cutting with scissors, angle grinders (note – due to the fiberglass and the risk of fine stone particles, it is recommended to perform processing in gloves and use safety glasses)
gluing to the board with polymer adhesives, silicones and, in the case of large areas of JUMBO sheets, two-component polyurethane adhesives
ATTENTION – natural product, may differ from photos and from delivery to delivery!
A natural stone, like any product of this type, shows variations in shade or drawing. If you buy more than one sheet, the product will show the same tone and grain, however, buying more sheets in the interval of time may involve significant differences.
